23rd April

The weather's gurus are not optimistic - to the pool - Bernie is almost running - she is the best she has been on the trip - we exercise - the pool is our own - the bushes proudly show off their flowers

Time for our road trip - 50 meter to breakfast - the weather holding together - the wind picks up a little - the seas respond to its encouragement.

Bernie heads of for her nail appointment at the spa. She returns by cart an hour later - the rain has arrived and has announced it's decision to stay for a while.

Bernie regales me with her interactions with the tiny fijian  spa girl - her mum is in charge - you should work in the spa the mother t old her daughter - good money - best at the resort says she - my brother is the zoomba person at port denarau says the daughter.

I wonder whether the officials at the Marriott bonVoy recognize the critical nature of their business venture to the well being of the local Fijians?

Bernie continues with her tales of the spa girl - "I had a women in for a Brazilian yesterday" says the tiny girl - "I told her no sex for 24 hours - infection risk I said - she looked horrified "what will my husband say" - she pays - pauses at the doorway - "you are serious" says she - me wonders about the martial discussion that took place in the unit last night!

To lunch.

The seas are angry but that does not stop the farewell for the departing guests - "the catamaran will have to come to the back of the island" says the waiter - Bernie prays that the weather is more amenable on the day of our departure - getting on and off the tender was tough enough when the seas had a mirrored finish.

As we sit having our now usual afternoon drink looking out over the ocean Bernie meticulously scapes off the nail polish applied at the spa - no good says she - the girl was nice but has no idea how to apply nail polish.

More photographs of the beach and out fellow guests.
